Role overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to lead a cross-functional engineering team responsible for building and scaling core components of our B2B SaaS platform. This role combines hands-on technical contribution with ownership of team execution, code quality, and delivery outcomes.

You will partner closely with Product, Design, and DevOps to deliver reliable, scalable, enterprise-grade systems while mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.

Key responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

Lead the design and implementation of backend-heavy, distributed systems
Review and approve technical designs, architecture decisions, and implementation approaches
Ensure systems meet standards for scalability, reliability, security, and performance

Team Leadership & Delivery

Lead and mentor a team of engineers through sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives
Own delivery timelines, scope trade-offs, and engineering execution quality
Foster strong engineering practices including code reviews, testing, and documentation

Hands-On Development

Contribute directly to code, particularly in complex or high-impact areas
Debug production issues and guide root-cause analysis and resolution
Set examples for engineering excellence and technical rigor

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Product Management to translate requirements into technical plans
Collaborate with Design and Frontend teams on end-to-end system delivery
Work with DevOps on deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure improvements

Process & Quality

Drive continuous improvement in development processes and tooling
Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and data-protection standards
Support incident response, post-mortems, and system hardening initiatives

Qualifications

8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience
2–4+ years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role
Strong hands-on experience with backend systems (Python, Java, or similar)
Proven experience designing and scaling production systems
Ability to lead teams across geographies and time zones

Preferred Experience

Experience building enterprise SaaS or platform-based products
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
Experience working in global or hybrid engineering organizations
Exposure to security, compliance, or regulated environments is a plus

Compensation

Pune, India:: Competitive local market compensation
Palo Alto, CA:: $190,000 – $230,000 base + bonus, equity, and benefits
