Overview

About this session

In this short, Orvera AI Founder and CEO Ali Merchant shares a conversation with a healthcare customer. The hospital had 40 to 50 people making calls, about 40 at a time, and asked whether AI agents meant it could now make 400 calls at once. Technically, the answer was yes.

The advice was not to. Flooding a payer's phone lines can burn the relationship, and a provider that wants to get paid faster may end up not getting paid at all, or facing legal challenges. Just because AI makes something possible does not mean it is the right move. The clip is designed for healthcare and revenue cycle leaders scaling AI calling.

Key takeaways

What comes out of it

  • 40 to 400. AI agents can multiply concurrent calls tenfold.

  • Possible is not wise. Flooding payer lines damages relationships.

  • Get paid, not blocked. Aggressive volume can delay or stop payment.

  • Watch the legal risk. Overloading partners can create other challenges.

Ali Merchant 00:00:00.00 One of our customers came and said, you know what Ali, we have like 40-50 people with you. So at a time they can make like 40 calls, right? Now that we have AI agents, can't we make like 400? And we were like, yeah, sure you can. They were a provider basically or they were a hospital. So we were like, you can, but you know, then you will end up flooding the payer's lines. You will end up burning those relationships. So you want to get paid early, but you might end up getting not paid at all. Or you will have some other legal challenges. Shouldn't, while you can do it, doesn't mean you should do it.
