To finish a booking change on Oracle OPERA Cloud, Amadeus or Sabre, an AI reservation agent has to read live availability, the rate and its deposit and cancellation rules, and the guest or traveler profile before it acts. It then has to write the booking, change or cancellation back to that system with a confirmation number, and pass group bookings, disputes and the exceptions your team names to a person with the conversation attached. Oracle Hospitality, Amadeus and Sabre are in Orvera AI's integration directory, and turning on a listed system is a configuration step inside the deployment.
It's 9:40 on a Thursday night. A guest calls a resort to move a Friday arrival to Saturday, keep her rate, and find out whether her deposit carries over. The reservations team left at eight. Here is what an AI agent has to read, write and hand over to finish that call on Oracle Hospitality's OPERA Cloud, Amadeus and Sabre.
What does an AI agent need to read before it touches a reservation?
Four things, while the guest is still on the line.
The first is availability at the right rate. In OPERA Cloud, rates, policies, inventory and restrictions are enforced as the hotel defined them, and the agent quotes what is loaded there.
The second is the deposit and cancellation rule, and this is where agents trip. In OPERA Cloud only one deposit rule applies to a reservation at a time. A rule on the rate code takes precedence, then one on the reservation type, then one attached to the reservation itself. An agent that reads the wrong layer quotes the wrong deposit. Cancellation rules carry a penalty and a deadline, down to a time of day.
The third is the guest profile. OPERA Cloud lets a property add preferences to a guest profile to personalize service, and the Amadeus iHotelier Call Center app syncs with the booking engine for live rates, rooms and profiles.
The fourth is the reservation itself: confirmation number, dates, room type, rate code, sharers and any deposit already posted.
What gets written back when the call ends?
The change goes into the system of record, with a number the guest can quote later. When a reservation is canceled in OPERA Cloud, the room type returns to inventory and a cancellation number is displayed. If the property has switched on automatic penalty posting, a cancellation inside the penalty window posts the charge to the guest's folio. A good agent states the penalty in dollars, gets a yes, then writes the change and reads back the number.
The second write is the record your team reads. Orvera AI's agents write the outcome back to your system of record and can be set to produce a post-call summary with fields your team defines.
Which requests go to a person, and what travels with them?
Your team draws that line, usually around three groups.
Group blocks and rooming lists belong with a sales manager when there is a negotiated rate, attrition terms or a contract. The agent collects dates, room count and the organizer's contact, then transfers.
Disputes over a resort fee or a no-show charge need someone with authority to decide. Some refunds need a person too. Oracle's own guide notes that when a cancellation refund is due and the penalty charges go to a different folio window, those transactions are handled manually.
Exceptions you name, such as VIP codes, comps or a medical reason behind a late cancellation, go on a written list the agent routes against.
Plan how each call reaches your team. Orvera AI's voice agents support warm or blind transfer to a person, set per agent, with a summary and the conversation attached. For the booking side of this desk, read our guide to central reservation office inbound booking (opens in a new tab).
| Request | What the agent reads | What it writes back | When a person takes over |
|---|---|---|---|
| New room booking | Availability and rate for the dates, rate code rules, guest profile | New reservation with a confirmation number | The rate sits outside the approved list, or the caller wants a block |
| Date change on a hotel stay | Existing reservation, availability on the new dates, deposit and cancellation rule on the rate code | Modified reservation, with any deposit or penalty change stated to the guest | The new dates fall inside a penalty window and the guest asks for a waiver |
| Cancellation | Cancellation rule and deadline, deposits posted | Cancellation number, with the penalty posted to the folio where the property has that switched on | A refund touches another folio window, or the rate is non-cancelable |
| Group block or rooming list | Block request, dates, room count | Intake summary and organizer contact | Every negotiated rate and contract term |
| Airline schedule change | PNR, ticket status, refundability check | Rebooking in the PNR, or the passenger's refund choice | Refund cases outside DOT's significant-change definitions, or a fare that needs repricing |
| Folio charge dispute | Folio and the policy behind the charge | Dispute summary for the team | Any reversal decision |
Where do Amadeus and Sabre fit for airlines and travel sellers?
On the travel side the booking usually lives in a PNR. Amadeus's Customer Profile services hold traveler preferences, frequent flyer details, seating requirements and corporate travel policy, and can transfer selected profile elements into a PNR.
Sabre's Booking Management API has eight methods, among them Get Booking, Modify Booking, Cancel Booking and Check Flight Tickets. Sabre says Get Booking supports traveler questions such as whether a ticket can be changed, and Check Flight Tickets verifies whether electronic tickets can be voided or refunded.
Airline refunds on US flights follow a federal rule. Under the US Department of Transportation's final rule, Refunds and Other Consumer Protections (DOT page last updated April 24, 2024), US and foreign air carriers must provide prompt automatic refunds when airlines cancel or significantly change their flights and consumers do not accept the alternatives offered. DOT counts an arrival 3 hours or more later as a significant change on a domestic itinerary, and 6 hours or more on an international one. A person should own any refund case those definitions leave unclear. Our travel and hospitality page (opens in a new tab) shows how fare and rate rules reach a human agent's screen through Agent Assist. Orvera AI's directory also lists Travelport and Navitaire.

Can an AI agent cover nights, weekends and peak days?
Yes, for the requests you approve. The agent answers at 2 a.m. as it does at noon, and the number of calls each agent takes at once is a setting on that agent, so plan capacity for your heaviest weather day. Orvera AI agents work in more than 80 languages across voice, chat and email.
First-contact resolution runs at about 80%, and average handle time falls 8 to 15% in the first 90 days, largely through Agent Assist. Both figures are averages across Orvera AI customer engagements.
How should you test a vendor on a real booking change?
Give the vendor one of your own reservations in a test environment and a change that crosses a rule. A good test: move a two-night stay on an advance-purchase rate code to dates inside its cancellation window, with a deposit posted. Then watch five things.
- Which deposit rule the agent quotes, the one on the rate code or the one on the reservation.
- Whether it states the penalty in dollars before writing the change.
- Whether the change appears in OPERA Cloud, or in the PNR, with a confirmation number.
- What happens when you push for a waiver, and whether the transfer arrives with the summary attached.
- Whether that summary matches what was said.
Ask the vendor where its agent stops, and expect a clear answer in the first meeting.

What should your team prepare before deployment?
Deployment takes 3 to 6 weeks on average across Orvera AI customer engagements, and timelines depend on workflow complexity and each customer's requirements.
Checklist:
- Rate codes the agent may sell, and the ones it may only quote
- Deposit and cancellation rules for each rate code, with property overrides
- The exception list and the owner of each item
- Transfer targets by hour of day, including the after-hours on-call path
- Test reservations in a non-production environment, one for each rule type
- Approved wording for taxes, fees and penalties
- The languages your guests call in
- A named reviewer for the first two weeks of calls
